Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

So, have you figured out yet that I love chocolate chip cookies? Any new recipes that I find that seem different or yummy, I have to try them. And this is a good choice! It is so good! But beware, the cookies are huge! So make smaller dough balls if you want smaller cookies!! Also, I cut this recipe in half and till got close to 4 dozen cookies!! This makes a HUGE batch. Just a warning. This came from a cookbook called Baking Kids Love, and they do too! Enjoy!

Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 c. butter, softened
4 large eggs, at room temperature
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. canola oil
4 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 1/4 c. quick oats
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 c. corn flakes
1 bag miniature semisweet chocolate chips
Put butter, eggs, and vanilla in large bowl and stir until well blended. Add the oil and beat well until combined.

Put the flour, sugar, brown sugar, oats, salt, and baking soda in another large bowl and combine until blended.

Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and stir well with spoon. Put corn flakes into a resealable bag, squeeze out the air, and seal the top. Squeeze the bag until the flakes are broken into tiny pieces.

Add the crushed flakes and the chocolate chips to the dough and stir until evenly blended.

Make 1 1/2 inch balls out of the dough. Place about 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. press down on each ball with your palm to flatten slightly. Bake cookies for 12 minute sat 350 degrees, or until golden brown. Cool completely.

  1. Hi Val!

Can we ever have too many chocolate chip cookie recipes?! I love the idea of corn flakes in them, makes me think that maybe they are a little "healthier" . . . :0)
