One Bowl Chocolate Cake

I have always used boxed cake mixes.  They are easy, fast, and anyone can do them.  This passed birthday season (there are 3 of 4 birthdays in our family in 1 month) I went to go get my chocolate cake mix and...gasp! They were all gone.  So I went searching pinterest and my cookbooks for a simple homemade cake.  I had never made one before that actually turned out.  Yet again, this six sisters, they came to my rescue.  Enter "One Bowl Chocolate Cake".  When I say it is the best cake ever, you can't hear me sigh or see me shut my eyes in pure delight just thinking about it.  Super moist (that's for you Heather!) and cakey and delicious! Seriously.  I just made it again on Monday and 3 days later it is still super yummy and moist.  And the best part.  Super easy!  Enjoy!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake
Recipe by: Six Sisters' Stuff
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup buttermilk*
2 eggs
1 cup hot water
Frosting
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Mix in the oil, buttermilk, and eggs. Once the eggs are fully incorporated, pour in the hot water and mix well (your batter will seem runny, but it is supposed to be that way!)
Grease a 9x13" baking pan and pour batter into pan. Bake for 33-38 minutes (or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean- mine was done at 33 minutes). When the cake is completely cool, top with frosting and decorate with sprinkles (if so desired).
