Apple Cinnamon Bars

This is a dessert that we made for a ward party that we had. It was a huge hit and we didn't have to bring hardly any home! YAY!! It was really good. It uses apples (which we have an abundance of) and cinnamon chips (which I love!) I got the recipe from Pillsbury. Enjoy!

Apple Cinnamon Bars
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. apple butter (I didn't have any so I used apple sauce and it worked great)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. finely chopped peeled apple (1 medium)
1 c. cinnamon flavored baking chips
GLAZE
1 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 13x9 inch pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy. add apple butter, eggs, and vanilla; beat until well blended. On low speed, beat in flour, baking soda and salt until well blended. Stir in apple adn cinnamon chips. Spread batter in pan. Bake 28-32 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from sides of pan and top is evenly browned. Cool in pan on cooling rack for 1 hour. In small bowl, mix glaze ingredients until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle glaze over bars. For bars, cut into 8 rows by 4 rows.
